Christmas Surprises

We decided to tell our families about our big announcement on Christmas, since we were able to spend time with both sides this year! Here are some videos of us breaking the news!
Both of our families had absolutely ZERO idea!

(You'll want to get the tissues ready.)

Telling My Family:
First of all, my mom LOVES Birds. We bought a small box from a seller on Etsy that said "Crack Me" on the inside of the lid. Inside the box was a tiny quail egg. Once it was cracked a little note fell out that said, "We are adding to our Nest! Baby Gordon July 2014"
Warning: the start of this vid is long.

My mom is going to kill me when she sees I posted this. Love you, Mom!

Telling My Pink Gma:
For Christmas I asked everyone in the family to send me a little letter or note on why they love Pink Grandma, or a memory they had of her. I compiled 31 letters together in a book, and on the last page I wrote a note from Baby Gordon that included a picture of the ultrasound..

Telling My Gma B:
We had the same little Quail egg for my Gma B. Due date is also Gma B's birthday!

Telling the In Laws:
We found the cutest little shop on Etsy that makes tiny boxes and clay replicas of how big your baby is week-to-week. I was 9 weeks when we broke the news and Baby was the size of a Green Olive. Spencer's mom got a different surprise!

We are SO grateful everyone was so excited and supportive about our exciting news!
We have the best friends and family in the world!

XOXO

Merry Christmas!

We've sent out christmas cards every year. Last year Winston was in the snow and he hated it! I totally meant to grab him as we were running out the door so he could be in the pictures but he was so happy laying in his favorite spot, I let him rest.
Anyways, Here are some pictures from our Christmas cards this year.

Merry Christmas to you and your family from The Gordons!

Faith in Humanity

Do you ever have those days where your total Faith in Humanity is shattered?

I had one of those days this past weekend.

I finished up a long school day & thought I would do some quick Christmas shopping before going home for the night. I was in the Sugarhouse area and stopped by a couple stores- both of which I left pretty irritated that their workers were so rude. It took all I had to smile and say "thank you!" in the kindest voice possible. Because it's the holiday season, right??

I was feeling super crappy and disappointed the employees at BOTH retail stores were being so rude, when I drove around the block to go to Petco for fuzzy Winston's treats! As I approached the front of Petco I noticed a girl who looked about my age, standing there with ALL of her belongings in backpacking gear with a garbage bag over it to keep everything from getting soaked. It was just starting to snow when she pulled all the belongings off her back and was trying to find something to wrap her little dog up in. I didn't even notice him there shivering in the freezing cold weather. I thought I would feel better doing something for someone else so I pulled out all of my earned tip money from school and gave it to her. She almost started crying and I immediately felt better for doing something nice for someone else.

I went inside Petco and AGAIN dealt with some pretty angry employees who seemed super irritated I asked a question about Bunny pellets. Feeling bummed yet again I checked out and was ready to be home in my comfy clothes.

I walked outside headed to my car when I slipped on a large patch of ice that sent me right into oncoming traffic in front of a woman driving an SUV barreling through the parking lot going at LEAST 30 mph. The woman nearly ran over me as I was stumbling to get up and she didn't even THINK of hitting her breaks. There was no one around and I got up and waved to let the woman know I was okay. As she continued speeding around parked cars she rolled her window down and yelled, "IT'S NOT A CROSSWALK YOU F****** A** H***"

I stood there with my heart racing from nearly being ran over, and was in complete shock that someone would actually yell that out their window at me. Clearly I didn't jump out into on coming traffic, and the woman WATCHED me fall right in front of her! I had reached my fun-meter for the day an got in my car and started bawling.

As I was driving home I started thinking about this lady in the parking lot. Maybe she was busy Christmas shopping and wanted to get home before her family got there. Maybe she was about to miss a sale if she didn't get there fast enough. Maybe she had a crappy day too. Regardless, I was totally bummed.

I think it's so easy for us to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of shopping and being busy that we forget what Christmas is all about. Christmas is  about giving to others, and showing compassion. Being kind, loving, generous, and being thankful for what we have and what we've been given. I think we would ALL benefit from slowing down a bit, enjoying the season and remembering what it's really about.

Anyways, End of rant.
I was so busy this past week with multiple tests at school & was down-and-out from food poisoning at one of my favorite restaurants that I didn't get much blogging in. I've got some really exciting things coming this week though so be sure to check back!

XOXO

Bye Bye Christmas Tree

I've been avoiding taking our Christmas tree down considering it's the third week of January now...
I guess I've been hoping that I'd walk in the front door to find it magically boxed itself up and stored itself away in our freezing outside storage closet.
No such luck.

This past weekend I finally got around to taking all the ornaments down. I still took my sweet time in attempts to avoid the inevitable.
I boxed up all of the holiday decorations & wanted to Kim Kardashian Ugly Cry as a piece of my soul went into storage along with the pretty garlands and glass ornaments.
I was even so sad to put my Justin Beiber Christmas CD away I made SURE it was pressed up against the clear box so it would be the first thing I saw next year when it was time to decorate again.

Even though I'm so bummed the Holidays are over, I'm so excited for upcoming events!
Valentine's day first of all...

See ya next year Christmas Tree!

THIS YEAR,
Christmas really meant a lot in the Brockbank/Gordon home.
This was our last holiday with Natalie home (a post on this coming soon..)
& Our FIRST Christmas as a MARRIED couple. SO much fun!

Here is a glimpse of some of my Christmas Festivities.

Wrapped Christmas Presents and let Winston eat the evidence..

Had breakfast with Santa & Mrs. Claus

Sat by the fireplace with Fatalie

Little America with the family (minus one..)

Christmas Eve Sibling Breakfast, Park City & Christmas Shopping

Had a good last look at the giant pile of presents under our tree..

Got our Christmas Eve Jammies..

Opened our Christmas Eve presents from Dad!
Oliver's People Sunglasses!

Drove to the homeless shelter Christmas Morning to hand out beanies, gloves, new socks, scarfs, coats & hand warmers.

Adored Spencer's wrapping..

Let Winston play with the paper..

Watched these two play with their new toys..

..And was completely spoiled rotten this Christmas.

Above all,
I'm so thankful for the Christmas Season. For all of the time we spent with family & friends remembering the true meaning of Christmas.

I was so sad laying in bed last night thinking it was all over so fast.
May we remember the Christmas Spirit all year long.

XOXO

Family Pictures

This year I decided I wanted to do Christmas Cards for our FIRST year of being married, especially since we now have a baby, err.. bunny.

We just drove up to my mom's house and had Fatalie take some quick pictures for us.
They turned out super cute & I fell in love with Winston Spencer all over again.
Since our Christmas cards have been sent out, I can actually post these now.
I had to post this one because Winston's huge foot is seriously out of control. HAHA
This is right before I put Winston in the snow and he tried to escape..
It was all fun and games until I put Winston in the snow. He did NOT like that. Notice how it looks like he doesn't have any ears. He tucked them back to keep them warm.

So excited that the two feet of snow in these pictures is completely melted.
It's December 13th and NO snow- I only wore a light jacket into work this morning.
BONUS!

P.S. DON'T FORGET TO ENTER YESTERDAY'S GIVEAWAY!!
