Hey There, November..

HALLOWEEN IS OVER?!

I woke up this morning completely in shock that it's already November!! Where has this year gone?? I dread the first day of November merely because a small piece of me dies when I have to put spooky Halloween decorations away. Now that October festivities are over and everyone is still recovering from eating candy all month long (or is it just me?) it's time to start thinking about the Holidays!

 

 

For one last Halloween Post I wanted to show everyone what we ended up dressing up as. I usually start planning my next Halloween costume on November 1st but we've both had so much going on lately I think it snuck up on us this year. Here's how our Halloween turned out! Enjoy ;)

Got a visit from the cutest little football player in town! He's already pro status at trick-or-treating, I almost had to fill my candy dish back up after he left!
(He totally gets his candy appetite from his mom..)

Then things just went downhill from here..

..or uphill..??

We had SUCH a fun time visiting family. My grandma didn't recognize me at all walking by until I went to give her a hug and she busted up laughing. All of my tiny cousins kept asking when I was having a baby and didn't believe me when I told them it wasn't real. One even punched my pillow belly just to make sure. I also met a new family member last night and she sweetly asked, "So... what are you dressed up as..?" I hope the poor girl doesn't think I look like this all the time. Although if I did, it could be awesome.

 

Visiting Papa in the care center was hilarious. I walked in and he laughed out loud and said I looked like a weirdo, but Spencer looked good. Uh.. haha thanks? Not sure what's more disgusting. Our costumes in General or the fact that Spencer totally pulls it off.

Special Effects

I honestly love Halloween so much because it's the perfect combination of creepy and fun! I'm linking up with some other great bloggers today- be sure to click the Halloween Link Up party button to read more Halloween posts!

So I've recently finished my makeup artistry class at school & I'm pretty excited about it! I'm hoping I'll really be able to use it since it's something that I love doing. We did some special effect makeup for Halloween which I think turned out pretty disgusting.. or pretty awesome.

We learned bruising and how to do a black eye. We hadn't eaten dinner yet, so going to grab a bite to eat AFTER I created my black eye was interesting. People STARED. And looked so concerned. Some lady went to hold the door open for me at Zupas but wouldn't move far enough over for me to actually get in the door because she couldn't stop staring. People would look away quickly and then look back giving me extreme cases of the pity smile. I wanted to start fake crying, but I refrained.

Life as Cleopatra

One of my favorite family traditions is going to Pink gma's house for Halloween. She bakes pumpkin chocolate chip cookies & serves hot chocolate to everyone who comes by!

I may be biased, but I have the best gma in the WHOLE WORLD.

I was Cleopatra & Spencer went as something scary- a ghoul or a different version of the grim reaper maybe?

We stopped by Pink gmas and saw some fam..

 

 



My sister Natalie AKA Fatalie told me all week she had no idea what she was dressing up as. LIES! When she stepped out of her car I about PEED!

Natalie was a SPITTING IMAGE minus the hair color. It was SO FUNNY!

My brother Jeff dressed up as a FREAKY scarecrow. He sat still in a chair by the hot chocolate table and would jump up and scare the kids. It was hilarious and also resulted in some 3rd degree burns from hot chocolate flying through the air.

 

If there's anything to know about Fatalie it's that she's QUEEN BEE at photo-bombing pics.

Pro Status!

 

And of course there's Winston. He needed some Halloween Lovins too.. So he got TWO baby carrots yesterday instead of just one!

 

I literally look forward to Halloween all year long. Then BOOM it's over.

I'm so sad to see October go taking my Halloween decorations with it.

 

I'm also Happy to see November is here- I always try to focus on how blessed I am with my "30 Days of Thankful" I'll take a picture each day of something I'm thankful for- A nice reminder of the things/people I am lucky enough to have!

I'm also looking forward to the holidays with Spencer as our first year as a MARRIED COUPLE! Thanksgiving & Christmas festivities, music & treats rock my world.

Ghost Tours

Over the last few weeks I've had some awesome chances to go on some ghost tours!

Two weeks ago Spencer and I went to Asylum 49 in Tooele, UT with my brother and sister. It's the old hospital that's so haunted they've turned it into a "spook alley" as my sweet gma would call it. We got to walk through with all of the actors scaring us and making us jumpy. The animatronics they had were AWESOME.

After we walked through the haunted house, we waited while all of the actors left and all of the animatronics were shut off. Afterwards we walked through with tour guides and went to different wings of the building.

DJ Chunga from 101.9 and Ben Hansen from the SyFy channel were there telling lots of scary stories from when the hospital was up and running, as well as stories that had personally happened to them since the hospital was abandoned.

TOTALLY FREAKY!

 

Our first wing of the building we visited was Labor and Delivery.

We had some awesome communication experiences with spirits that were visiting this building. We heard moans, footsteps, pipes rattling and the sink turned on at one point.

We also visited the old nurses station and used Mag lights to communicate with a female spirit in the building.

Our last stop was the old ER room which was totally awesome. There was a sink dripping in there that they haven't been able to shut off for years.

 

We went back to the hallway by the nurses station because there seemed to be a lot of activity there. Ben Hansen hooked my middle finger up to a heart rate monitor. Resting in the hallway my heart rate was 77. After a few minutes of nothing happening I told Ben I was suddenly FREEZING. He looked down and my heart rate and jumped to 112. I was quickly warm again and my heart rate immediately went back down to 77.

Totally creepy.

 

They had this awesome casket at the end of our tour we laid in to take pictures.

(This is the tour we all got SUPER sick from. I think we were all exposed to something or someone- all 4 of us were down and out all of last week- Spencer is STILL sick! It may have had something to do with the fact we didn't get HOME until almost 5:30 AM!)

 

OUR SECOND TOUR..

Was this past Friday at the Baron Mill in Brigham City. Spencer and Natalie were still too sick to go so I ended up going with my brother Jeff and two of his friends. There's so much history in this building. It was originally owned by the LDS Church- Bought by a second party and later abandoned.
We got to walk through the building after hearing some scary stories about things that previously happened before the building was abandoned. There were lots of children in the 30's that worked in this building and one little boy was killed by a huge piece of machinery that wasn't shut off yet- that machine is still in the building.

It was totally spooky walking through here since the owners UP and LEFT.

There were literally still bags of wool laying around..

DJ Chunga had a really bad experience with something he felt was evil in this building. He told us to "STAY AWAY FROM THE BOILER ROOM" ....we still went.. but nothing bad happened.

Since the workers up and left there's quite a bit of machinery still left in the building. This was the actual machine that killed the little boy that tried to fix it!

I'm still not sure why there is ANY red in this picture- the Boiler had zero red coloring on it at ALL. But there's quite a bit of weird red in this picture....

Our guide said there's usually quite a bit of activity in this room.

Murder Scene

As ya'll should know by now, I LOVE Halloween.

 

During October my place is FILLED with Halloween decorations.

Here is a fun & totally easy decoration to creep your guests out.

 

I call these my Murder Scene towels, I make them every year!!

 

You'll Need:

• -A white hand towel. I usually find these at Ross for a few bucks. There's no need to buy good ones since you're practically ruining them anyways.
• Red craft paint.

 

Okay so FIRST, you'll lay out your white hand towels.

**If you are using normal craft paint, fold your towel in half the hot dog way.

(yep- just referenced the hot dog fold)

Normal craft paint is NOT waterproof so when you dry your hands, you'll end up with red paint on them. If you fold it the hot dog way you can use the back half of the towel when it is hung up on the hand towel holder.

If you use fabric paint that is permanent you can fold your towel however your sweet little heart pleases.

 



Second, Cover your hands in red paint!

Really get your hands soaked with paint-

(I forgot to take a picture first, so this is the picture after I already wiped my hands on the towel..)

 

Next..

you'll wipe your hands or make hand prints on your fresh white towels.
Don't be afraid to get messy here. After all, this IS supposed to look like a murder scene..
