Utah Pressure

I love Utah. Dearly.
Born & Raised, here to stay (......for now)
I think there are some awesome benefits to living here!

My Job
My Friends
Love downtown SLC (even though it's not as large as I would like..)
Many benefits church-wise
City Creek Mall
Hot Summers & Snowy Winters
Family close by
Beautiful Mountains
...
my list will go on and on.

.BUT.
Utah. ..You're SERIOUSLY KILLING ME!!
I wake up with the mountains and valleys screaming
"WHY ARE YOU 23 AND BABY-LESS!?"

See.. only Utah is known for putting on the pressure to get married young and start poppin' out those babies as soon as possible!
(If you don't start poppin' em out you won't have stickers for the back of your minivans)

I have plenty of friends my age with one or TWO kids.
And here I am like.. "I've got a bunny!!"

I feel like my baby ticker is ticking.
And you know what? I blame Utah.
Because my baby ticker most certainly is not ticking.
....OUTSIDE of Utah....

My first thought is:
JUST BUY MORE BUNNIES!

..which I am actually perfectly fine with..

My second thought is:
Stop taking birth control and FORGET to tell Spencer.
(couldn't do it..)

THEN random opportunities present themselves:
LIKE GO TO THE KE$HA CONCERT!

Park City, Sundance, late night out.
YES

....and suddenly...
I am so thankful that I do not have kids.

THE END.

  2. I'm thankful you don't have kids either, that means I can come and party in SLC with you and not have to worry about crying babies the next morning when I have a headache!

It's ok....I am 29 and no bf let alone babies!

  4. Oh Utah... I live in St. George and am 28 without any little babies. People look at me like I'm an alien. When my husband and I drop everything to go to Vegas for the weekend or talk about sleeping in till noon their look changes a little though :)

  6. I'm coming up on 23 and don't even feel the slightest twinge of baby hunger. and there is nothing or no one is all of Utah Freaking Valley who can make me feel other wise.

but that is because babies terrify me.

and when people try to get all jugdemental, I don't even care a little.
Plus, I already have a bank account drainer. and if his children are anything like him, then I DEFINITELY can't afford a kid right now. or for the next six years.

  7. I'm with Natalie on this one, just get more bunnies! I'm 24, going on 25, and I am NOWHERE near being ready for kids. I am religious about taking my birth control at the same exact time every day, and if I miss a day, I freak out. I can barely handle puppy-sitting for my parents, let alone a child. Stick to your guns, chickie!

  9. haha I love this. I hate that Utah puts so much pressure on it. I honestly HATE it. We just went to Cancun for our one year anniversary, and you know, we couldn't have done that if we have kids! It's a life-changer. And imma be a super happy girl when it happens. But I'm in no hurry! I LOVE that I agree with you. haha!

  11. haha isn't that sticker funny?
Yeah being married to more than one person is not legal. They lived near SLC and had to move because they were getting into tons of trouble after the sisterwives show!

  15. I'm right there with you, I actually get grossed out when I hear about people and how their children dictate every second of their life. EW! I love doing what I want when I want wayyyyyy too much.

  16. If it makes you feel ANY better- I'm 25 & baby-less! I can completely relate with you on this topic- There are days I would kill for a baby... & others I'm glad I can pick up and go, without a diaper bag, carseat, stroller, etc... There is a time for everything---Enjoy the now! Love you Kell!

  17. I'm 30, babyless, and have been married for two years. I live in Utah and I don't feel the pressure, but probably only because I choose to ignore it. I think a lot of people expect me too because I got married a little later, but I say enjoy your youth! My husband and I went backpacking in Europe for six weeks and this year we are doing an internship in Australia. We want to have kids and look forward to it, but we are really enjoying our childless time. When the time is right, it's right. That time is different for everyone.
